Seiko Solutions Inc. (President: Mr. Jun Sekine, Head office: Chiba-shi, Chiba) has developed new firmware v3.0 for SmartCS that supports REST API. This upgrade will be available from late June 2022 and enhance integration with a variety of operation management software.
SmartCS was originally designed to aggregate console connections of multiple network devices. By supporting REST API, one of the major APIs used for application and system integration, SmartCS can now be integrated with a wide variety of operation management software used in network operations. In addition to enabling tasks such as changing the settings and retrieving information of SmartCS via API, it is also possible to retrieve console logs and operation information output by target devices connected to SmartCS via API. Furthermore, these operations can be performed in conjunction with the operation system, leading to labor savings in operations.
The most notable feature is that the connection via SmartCS enables operations and information acquisition using the REST API, even for network devices that do not support any API. This enables the integration of serial communication information, which has been difficult in the past, with an operating system consisting of various devices, and is expected to realize comprehensive management of the entire system’s network devices.

SmartCS will be exhibited at Interop Tokyo 2022, which will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan from June 15-17, 2022.
